Why Do Millennials Perform Dysfunctional Behavior Toward an Organization? An Exploratory Study in an Urban Campus

Organizations can determine what constitutes dysfunctional behavior in several ways, often by aligning with the shared social values of local society which organization operates. In relation to this, urban environments pose a particular challenge organizations as its higher degree diversity compared rural areas. This exploratory study aims identify causes millennials’ toward organizations. Further, authors would explore dimension characteristics millennials an organization. was conducted on campus, 197 students from various programs being respondents. Data collection used open-ended questions distributed through online surveys, followed focus group discussions obtain more detailed answers. The results showed that main targets students’ were college itself, lecturing staff, and student-led most common reasons for this disappointment goal encouraged other students. also found despite aware their actions deemed unethical target, who committed behaviors did not feel guilty because they believed target deserved it. findings are useful organizational research, particularly behavior, it provides empirical data support retaliation is one antecedents behavior.
